Your teacher is right-it means of course... I use freetranslation.com a lot, but I think an even better one would be wordreference.com. It will show you the definition, plus things that its used in. For example, yesterday I wanted to know how to translate 篓thorn in my side篓...I looked up thorn, which I knew, but then scrolling down it has colloquial phrases, including the one I was looking for, and how to say them... Also a good spanish english dictionary will sometimes have a middle section with special idiomatic expressions like that. Good luck!
